Updates as you fill inThe gratuity calculator Ajman above gives private-sector employees in Ajman an instant, accurate estimate of their end-of-service gratuity under current UAE Labour Law. Ajman follows the exact same federal formula as Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi — there is no separate Ajman gratuity law — so this calculator applies Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 directly to your basic salary and years of service.
Enter your basic monthly salary, length of service, and how your employment ended to see your estimated payout, a full step-by-step breakdown, and whether the statutory two-year cap applies to you.
How the Ajman Gratuity Calculator Works
The calculator takes three inputs — your basic monthly salary, your total length of service, and any unpaid leave days — and applies the Article 51 formula automatically:
- Your daily wage is calculated as basic salary ÷ 30.
- Unpaid leave days are subtracted from your total service period.
- You earn 21 days of pay for each of your first 5 years of service.
- You earn 30 days of pay for each year of service beyond year 5.
- The total is capped at two years’ basic salary under Article 53.
The result updates instantly as you adjust your inputs, and you can expand the breakdown to see exactly how each figure was derived — useful when checking your HR department’s final settlement calculation.
Who Can Use This Calculator?
This tool is built for expatriate, full-time private-sector employees working for an Ajman mainland or Ajman Free Zone employer who have completed — or are approaching — one year of continuous service. It applies to both resigning and terminated employees, since the 2022 law reform removed the resignation penalty.
It is not designed for UAE nationals, who are covered by pension and social security legislation instead of Article 51, or for employees whose contracts are registered under DIFC or ADGM, which run separate savings-based end-of-service schemes.

Gratuity Formula Explained
Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 sets out a two-tier formula based on your basic monthly salary and years of continuous service:
Your daily wage is calculated as basic monthly salary ÷ 30. That daily figure is then multiplied by your total eligible days to produce your lump-sum gratuity.
Worked Calculation Examples
The table below shows the gratuity outcome at different tenure milestones for an Ajman employee on a fixed basic salary of AED 5,000, so you can see how the formula compounds over time.
Example — 7 years of service, AED 6,000 basic salary:
- Daily wage: AED 6,000 ÷ 30 = AED 200
- First 5 years: 105 days × AED 200 = AED 21,000
- Remaining 2 years: 60 days × AED 200 = AED 12,000
- Total gratuity: AED 33,000 (well under the AED 144,000 cap)

Resignation vs Employer Termination
Under the previous 1980 labour law, employees who resigned before completing five years of service received a reduced gratuity. That penalty was abolished when Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 took effect in February 2022.
Today, both resignation and termination — including termination without cause — result in the same Article 51 calculation, as long as the employee completed at least one year of continuous service. The main exception is dismissal for serious misconduct under Article 120, which can reduce or eliminate gratuity entitlement; that scenario is outside the scope of this calculator and should be reviewed with a labour lawyer or MOHRE directly.
Common Calculation Mistakes
Housing allowance, transport allowance, and bonuses do not count toward gratuity under Article 51. Employees who calculate gratuity from their total monthly income routinely overestimate their entitlement.
Long-serving employees with 15+ years of service often calculate a gratuity figure that exceeds two years' basic wage. Article 53 caps total gratuity at that amount, regardless of tenure.
This was true under the old 1980 labour law but was abolished with the 2022 reform. Resigning employees with one or more years of service now receive the same gratuity as terminated employees.
Unpaid leave days reduce your countable service period before the 21/30-day formula is applied — a step many manual calculations skip.
A small number of Ajman-based professionals hold contracts registered under DIFC or ADGM. Those free zones use the DEWS-style savings scheme, not the Article 51 lump-sum formula used across mainland Ajman.
